London, 2011-2014

During her time at Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, Fitzrovia’s founder Berta Willisch lead the design and delivery of 10 New Burlington Street, a prominent Central London commercial building for developer The Crown Estate.

10 New Burlington Street comprises circa 40,000 sq ft of new flagship retail space over three floors together with 95,000 sq ft of grade A office accommodation. The building featured retained facades to Regent Street and much of New Burlington Street and stunning new curved facades to the other elevations.

The development was completed in March 2014 and was fully let within 9 months of completion. The building was developed to a BREEAM Excellent rating and was the first in the UK to have the offices entirely lit by LED lighting.

The retail was let to J Crew, who selected this as their first ever unit in Europe, and to Watches of Switzerland, opening the largest dedicated watch shop in the UK. The offices were let to a number of high class occupiers and featured two of the largest ever office lettings in London’s West End.

The building has won numerous awards including “West End Development of the Year” in the 2015 OAS Awards, and in the 2015 International Property Awards, national awards for “best Mixed-use Development, UK” and “Office Development, UK”.
